TURNPIKE TROUBADOURS at Tri-State Rodeo in Fort Madison, IA

On Friday, September 5, the Tri-State Rodeo will welcome the Turnpike Troubadours to the Great River Health Stage! The band is considered one of the most significant exports of the Red Dirt Country sound from Texas and Oklahoma. The gritty, country-leaning roots rock band combines the political folk of Woody Guthrie with the outlaw-style honky tonk of Waylon Jennings, producing a blend of bluegrass, Cajun, and rock influences. Their grassroots following has grown into arena-filling popularity, connecting deeply with listeners through their plaintive melodies and hard-hitting lyrics. The band has amassed over 1.5 billion streams globally and sold more than 1.28 million equivalent album units to date.

Recognized as one of the top five large outdoor rodeos in the nation since 2000, the Tri-State Rodeo was also inducted into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame in 2025. The Tri-State Rodeo, along with the Jim Baier Chute Out, showcases the world’s top rodeo athletes.
