Galesburg Community Chorus Rehearsals for Spring Concert
Monday, January 20 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

The Galesburg Community Chorus will begin rehearsals for its spring concert, featuring Jocelyn Hagen’s The Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci, from 7-9 p.m. Monday, January 20 at First Presbyterian Church, 101 N. Prairie St., in Galesburg. All are welcome to join, and no auditions are necessary. Dues are $10 a semester, and music fees are $5 a semester. Students are not required to pay dues.
The Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci is a groundbreaking work that brings to life the writings, drawings, and visionary ideas of Leonardo da Vinci. Composed in 2018, this multimedia work is set for choir, soloists, and orchestra, with a striking integration of live projection that displays images from da Vinci’s notebooks, which are synchronized with the music. Hagen’s work honors da Vinci’s enduring legacy as a scientist, artist, and thinker, celebrating his curiosity and genius through an immersive combination of music and visual art.
The concert is sponsored by Blick Art Materials, with additional support from OSF Healthcare, the Galesburg Community Foundation, the City of Galesburg, and the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency.
The Galesburg Community Chorus, directed by Dr. Tim Pahel, is the oldest community music organization in the Galesburg area and is currently celebrating its 79th anniversary.
