BESTSELLING BOOK PROMISES TO PUT KIDS RIGHT TO SLEEP: Some parents would do nearly anything to get some shut eye, and they should apparently all be reading The Rabbit Who Wants to Fall Asleep to their kids. The book was published in 2014, but has recently skyrocketed in popularity. Amazon describes the book as “a quick and guaranteed way to help your child relax in the evening or during a nap.” The 26-page book was written by Swedish psychologist and linguist Carl-Johan Forssén Ehrlin, who uses psychological tricks and positive-reinforcement methods to soothe children to sleep. The story follows Roger the Rabbit, who is tired but can’t sleep, as he visits “Uncle Yawn” with his mother. So does it really work? The author and publisher warn, “Even if this book is harmless to use, the author and the publisher take no responsibility for the outcome… [parents are discouraged from reading the book] close to someone driving any type of vehicle.” Ehrlin explains, “[It helps] the child focus on relaxation and become part of the story.” Amazon reviewers of the book seem to agree, as it currently has 4.4 stars, and one reviewer writes, “Both of us were asleep before the book was over. [Definitely] becoming part of our bedtime routine!” (Yahoo)
